Experience Bamfield Time.

A time to relax, slow down, and appreciate all the charms of a true west coast fishing village

Walk Bamfield's busiest street, The Boardwalk, stroll the other main thoroughfare, the Trail to Brady's Beach, or cross the marine highway, Bamfield Inlet, to visit the Bamfield Marine Science Centre.

Bamfield is a quiet and charming seaside hamlet (pop. ~200) located at the Southern end of Barkley Sound.  It is best known for its superb fishing adventures and also as the starting point for the world famous West Coast Trail (part of Pacific Rim National Park).

The Bamfield community is divided into two sections, East and West, which are separated by about 150m of water across the tranquil Bamfield Inlet.

The West side of Bamfield is linked by a waterfront boardwalk that connects a variety of small shops, homes, and docks on the harbour side as well as easy walking access to the incredibly beautiful Brady’s beach.

The East side hosts the extraordinary Bamfield Marine Science Centre, the local pub and access to the West Coast Trailhead (the start of a 77 km adventure trek along the Westcoast of Vancouver Island to Port Renfrew). To cross between the two sides of Bamfield, you can either befriend one of the locals or hail the water taxi.
